Kejawen
Like most other Indonesian ethnic groups, including the Sundanese, the Javanese are an Austronesian people whose ancestors are thought to have come from Taiwan & migrated through the Philippines to reach the island of Java between 1500 - 1000 BC. Apart from Austronesian influences, there are also influences from Islam, India, and the Western world in their lives. In 774 the tribe launched an attack on Po Nagar in Nhatrang where pirates destroyed the temple, while in 787 an attack was launched on Phangrang.
This expansionist tribe launched several large expeditions to Madura, Bali in 1284, and Kalimantan & the most important expedition to Sumatra in 1275. From other authors' notes, it can be seen that some went to the Maldives, Calicut, Oman, Aden & the Sea. Red. The Javanese imported labor in the form of black people from Jenggi, Pujut & Bondan.
This is shown by the presence of outriggers & oculi on African boats. The former capital can be found in Trowulan. This displacement was most likely caused by the eruption of Mount Merapi and/or the invasion of Sriwijaya.
Following the defeat of the Malay Kingdom, the Singasari Kingdom controlled trade in the Malacca Strait. Singasari's power was destroyed in 1292 by the Kediri rebellion under Jayakatwang & killed Kertanegara. The Kertanegara policy was then continued by Majapahit under King Hayam Wuruk & Minister Gajah Mada.
Majapahit's successor, Demak, played a big role in opposing the newly arrived colonial power, namely the Portuguese. Its power weakened in 1619 when the Dutch established their trading headquarters in Batavia. Falling into British hands, although briefly, British rule led by Stamford Raffles had a significant influence on the Javanese, including the rediscovery of Borobudur.
In the 19th century, the Javanese were famous as shipbuilders which had a maximum tonnage of 50 tons and were used for transportation on rivers. They also made many 1 pound cannons, long muskets, spingarde, schioppi, Greek fire, guns & other weapons/fireworks. Meanwhile, the residents of Kota Gede are famous for their handicrafts made from silver.
Traditional batik is made by women as a hobby, but several cities and villages specialize in making batik, such as Pekalongan, Kauman, Kampung Taman & Laweyan. After independence, Yogyakarta & Pakualam then united to form DIY. Before Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism & Islam entered Java, the original beliefs held by the Javanese people were animism and dynamism/shamanism.
Javanese teachings are believed to have developed since the Hindu-Buddhist era. However, this sect usually adopts the monotheistic nature of Islamic teachings & some things are extracted from Islamic teachings and use terms originating from Arabic. Until then, the terminology of Kejawen Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity became known.
The ritual that is still carried out today is mitoni, to be precise at 7 months of pregnancy, the ritual in the form of splashing is held. The result of this research is that the mitoni tradition in Hamlet Sodong is a form of a community effort to establish kinship with members of different religious communities, therefore it is then known as Kejawen Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism & Christianity. Meanwhile, another tradition is wetonan which can be carried out up to 10 times a year.
