The Pasemah tribe is one of the indigenous ethnic groups originating from the South Sumatra region which is related to the Malay & Komering tribes who have also lived in South Sumatra for hundreds of years. The word Pasemah comes from the Sriwijaya Kedatuan Army Foundation inscription discovered after the conquest of Lampung in 680 AD. The Palas Pasemah inscription states that this tribe has existed since before the 6th century AD. This tribe generally lives around the active volcano area, Mount Dempo. The Pasemah tribe which is now most identified is the City of Pagar Alam, Lahat, Muara Enim & 4 Lawang. Then explains the history of celebrating birthdays in the Islamic tradition & the spread of this tradition in the archipelago, especially in Sumatra. Kaptein doubts this & believes that there was no birthday celebration before 514 H. Meanwhile, in the Sunni tradition, according to Kaptein, birthday celebrations began in Syria during the time of Nur al-Din. This tradition was also started by a sheik in Mosul, namely Umar al Malla, who was a contemporary and became a teacher and role model for Nur al-Din. Hurgronje, for example, said that the Mawlid tradition was widespread in the villages in Aceh when he was there & said this tradition began in the 16th century on the orders of the Turkish Sultan. Serawai's Animism

Image
Based on the stories of the elders, the Serawai tribe originates from an ancestor named Serunting Sakti with the title Si Pahit Lidah. Apart from that, there are also those who think that Serunting Sakti is the child of an illicit relationship between Puyang Chief Jurai and Putri Tenggang. Putri Senggang is the daughter of Rajo Megat, who has 2 children, namely Rajo Mawang & Putri Senggang. After that, Putri Tenggang gave birth to a daughter who was named Putri Tolak Merindu. After Putri Tenggang gave birth to a daughter who was named Putri Tolak Merindu, a marriage took place between Putri Tenggang and Puyang Chief Jurai, and this was done after Putri Tolak Merindu was able to walk and speak. In Majapahit, Serunting Sakti asked for an area/territory to live in. It is said that Puyang Serunting Sakti exploded/fired a small cannon, the size of an adult's calf towards the west whose bullets were made from gold chains. The bullet hit a banyan tree near the Tais River. Ajisman also

Rejang's Animism

Image
In 2090 BC, Rhe Jang Hyang & his group founded a village called Kutai Nuak in the White Napal area, North Bengkulu. Some refer to the region as the Back Indies. In Ekorusyono's Rejang Culture, it is stated that at least in the 2nd century AD, Rejang's ancestors sailed across the ocean & landed on the west coast of Sumatra.  They then occupied the downstream area of the Ketahun River before finally continuing along the river until they reached the Lebong area, which at that time was called Renah Sekalawi. Before going to Sumatra, Rejang's ancestors are thought to have stopped for a long time in Kalimantan, before crossing to Sumatra via Bangka & landing on the Musi River. Perhaps because of security & conquest factors, Rejang's ancestors continued along the Musi and Rawas Rivers upstream.  After reaching the present Rejang area, Rejang's ancestors did not immediately become familiar with agriculture/cultivation. As a member of the Austronesian langu

I immediately grabbed it & looked at the cellphone screen, it turned out it was already showing 03.15. The trip to the pier takes about 30 minutes from the house. On the motorbike, I was quite anxious, because according to the schedule, the ship would not receive goods after 4 in the morning. Before the ship departed, we ate with our group of friends, around 9 am. After 13 hours of traveling by ship, we arrived at a small island which was quiet & quite dark, due to the lack of lighting. It's really the most beautiful star I've ever seen after Bukit Kaba. Good evening Indian Ocean! OK, I'll explain it one by one to our members so that it's easy, then I'll share this journey with them for 1 month. He is very good at speaking Arabic. Our dedication focuses on bringing the mosque to life when it is right to enter the month of Ramadan. We hold the learning process at the mosque from 14.00 until just before Asar. Mukomuko's Animism

Image
The native tribes of Bengkulu include the Mukomuko tribe. Even though they have embraced Islam, some beliefs in animism & dynamism are still visible in the lives of the Mukomuko tribal people. Animism, the meaning of animism in Latin is animus & in Greek avepos, in Sanskrit, it is called prana / ruah which means breath/soul. In philosophy, animism is a doctrine that places the origin of mental & physical life in an energy that is separate from/different from the body. Animism is the theory that all miniature natural objects have life/spirit, have a spirit, and that mental & physical life originates from life, soul/spirit. Whereas animist beliefs assume that every object, both animate and inanimate, has a spirit. Spirits for primitive communities are spirits that are still composed of very material, spirits from objects that give rise to powerful feelings such as dense forests, deep lakes, rivers with fast currents, big trees with shady leaves, dark caves, etc. are the o

Bengkulu's Animism

Bengkulu is a province on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia with the capital city of Bengkulu City. According to records, in 1712 in this city, there were 800 housing units. Inhabited by the Lembak ethnic group in the Sungai Itam Kingdom & Selebar Kingdom. As a consequence of the treaty with England, that country had monopoly rights to buy pepper in both areas. The majority do not know God & some still believe in animism. The Luka Gile tradition is closely related to animism & dynamism beliefs and then developed into a means of entertainment. The night is considered the right time to summon spirits who will be put into the lukah/bubu. With the ritual ceremony of the Lukah dance, the spirits are respected so that they become peaceful without disturbing the humans around them. When Islam came, there were 2 different cases when the Sultan of Anak Sungai was proud to call himself a Malay, while the Prince of Sungai Lemau, did not want to be called a Malay, but called himself an
