Alor's Animism


The history of the Alor tribe began when Munaseli sent bees to Abui & vice versa, Abui sent typhoons & fire to Munaseli. The destruction of the two Kingdoms gave birth to an alliance of 5 Kingdoms on the coast which were believed to have a close relationship with each other, even their King claimed to have the same ancestor. The founders of the 5 coastal kingdoms were the 5 sons of Mau Wolang from Majapahit & they were raised in Pandai.

They also have trade relations, even blood relations with a similar alliance stretching from Solor - Lembata. The trade route that was built was not only between them but also reached Sulawesi, some even said that the small islands in northern Australia belonged to this trade route. This route was taken by foreigners when they were on their way back to Europe after sailing around the world & after Magellan, the leader of the Victoria fleet, was killed in the Philippines.

Although animism is often associated with traditional beliefs in many cultures worldwide, the concept of animism can also be found in several official religions such as ethnic religions in Indonesia. In the context of history & anthropology, animism is often considered to be one of the most ancient forms of religious belief, which has existed since prehistoric times and still survives today in various forms in various societies throughout the world. In Indonesia, several regions still maintain animist beliefs as an integral part of their culture & daily life.
