Dondo's Animism
Indonesia has diverse ethnic groups wrapped in local traditions and customs. The north is bordered by the sea. The south is bordered by the village of Ogowele.
The west is bordered by the village of Bambapun. This group is usually named after the name of the river where they live, such as Salungan, Ogomolobu, Oyom & Kambuno. However, many Dondo tribes still practice animism, especially those who live in the mountains.
However, many Dondo tribes still practice animism, especially those who live in the mountains. Animism according to Koentjaraningrat is a belief that considers that everything that moves is considered alive & has supernatural powers / has a spirit that is good or bad. The grave is in the family's yard & family members say goodbye to the spirit of the body by sleeping around the grave for several days.
The grave is in the family's yard & family members say goodbye to the spirit of the body by sleeping around the grave for several days. This ceremony had previously stopped for 11 years & was carried out again in 2016. In this tradition, there are offerings aimed at supernatural objects such as the spirits of ancestors, and guardian creatures of certain places/others.
Initially, this offering tradition was where the Dondo people / previous ancestors if there were pregnant women / had small children, usually made this custom so that they were far from being disturbed by invisible creatures. Which functions as an intermediary for offerings to the spirits of ancestors, the shaman so that their goal of carrying out the ritual can be realized, namely to cure diseases. For those who leave the house / this offering during the time of their ancestors, there was a community member who was possessed by a spirit they believed was the one who gave the illness.
Islamic values & Javanese ancestors meet and collaborate in the offering instruments. This can be seen when the Lais village community carries out the offering tradition where there are verses of the Koran that are read & there are offerings that are prepared for those who are supernatural/ancestral spirits. The practice of giving offerings to spirits, which is one of the rituals of the Kejawen religion, has been ridiculed by Islamic reformers through their sermons.
Aqidah in language comes from the word al aqdu which means bond. And since then all forms of animism and dynamism beliefs have begun to be abandoned. This tradition of offerings has become a custom of the Dondo, Tolitoli, and Pante Timur people, but many people have begun to abandon this tradition unlike before, almost all people, who believed it was a legacy of beliefs from the time of their ancestors.
The proof is, that there are things that grandfathers and ancestors do that are not done by fathers and mothers.
