Pendau's Animism


Several tribes live in the Tolitoli district such as the Pendau tribe. 2016. This article is entitled The Preservation of the Kayori Traditional Ritual Tradition of the Pendau tribe in Tovia Tambu Village, Balaesang District, Donggala District.

The Pendau tribe's thinking on the Kayori traditional ritual tradition has changed, including religious values, where the Pendau tribe community used to embrace animism, now they embrace the religion they believe in & several factors that cause change, namely internal and external factors.

Pakpak's Sipelebegu

The word character comes from the Greek chrassein, which means making sharp/making deep. The characteristic of the religions adhered to by Sidikalang residents, namely Christianity 74.70%, Islam 24.70%, Buddhism 0.55%, Hinduism 0.03%, Confucianism 0.01% & sects 0.01%. Regarding the description of the Batak Pakpak community, it is known that in the past this community adhered to animism with a burial system by burning the corpse and then placing the ashes in a stone grave called perabuen. Ranau's Animism

Other tribes from South Sumatra include all tribes from South Sumatra such as the Ranau tribe. The Ranau tribe is an ancient tribe that is believed to be the ancestors of today's Lampung people. In the book History of the Lampung Region, it is stated that in the past the Ranau tribe still adhered to animist/dynamism beliefs before the arrival of Hinduism from mainland India in the 3rd century AD. Sekuraan is a masquerade party held at the beginning of the month of Shawwal / starting on Eid al-Fitr. As a society that still adheres to animist beliefs, at that time sekuraan was done to summon the spirits of ancestors during the harvest festival.
