Yapen's Animism

The following tribes inhabit the province of Papua, including the Yapen tribe. They live in a bay called Intuni Sawabarawang Bay, meaning a calm and quiet bay when illuminated by the reflection of the full moon that shines like a glass sea. The boundaries of the area include the north bordering the Angkaisera district, the south bordering the Waropen district, the east bordering the Mamberamo Raya district, and the west bordering the Manokwari district.

Kauba Rorong, commonly called Kaubararoi, and a bay called Raing Bomering, commonly called Raimbomeri, mean a calm and quiet bay. Likewise, boys have to do men's work since the age of 10. The Ambai tribe highly respects the culture of their ancestors from generation to generation.

There is also what they call rurang, a ceremony to find out something & release spirits in the human body. Boats have been the existence of the Ambai people since the time of their ancestors. According to informants, in the past, their ancestors made sharpened stones as boat pegs.

According to the ancestral beliefs of the Ambai people, Ampari is a human who transformed into a star because of his supernatural powers. Dewa Jambokin lives in the Seneung cave, while Dewi Jamampon lives in the Babeu cave. Both live in caves located on the banks of the Wairorif River.

The story of Serador & Ampari won third place in the 2015 folklore writing competition, while Jambokin and Jamapon won fourth place in the 2016 folklore writing competition.
