Moi's Animism

Image
The Moi tribe is one of the tribes in Southwest Papua. Initially, it was believed that the Moi originated from Klawelem in Makbon. Moi youth played a role in Operation Trikora by assisting Simon Randa, a Torajan employee of the Dutch government, in supplying the guerrilla enclave around Sorong, which was operated by Trikora infiltration troops. The elementary and intermediate levels require 6-12 months, while the highest level can take 18 months. Fun Mo, a Moi from the Malyat River, became the ancestor of the King of Sailolof, who later married the daughter of the King of Waigeo.

The Matbat people are an ethnic group in Southwest Papua, Indonesia. The Samson ritual takes place once a year, lasting six to seven months. The traditional chief/king then expresses gratitude for protection during the Samson period, thanks for the fertility it provides, and prays for the protection of local residents while harvesting seafood. This ritual involves chanting mantras to the guardians, inhabitants of the sea, and deceased ancestors. On the second day, the community can sail longer distances. On the third day and beyond, they can sail even further. This dance is a traditional dance of the Misool civilization, passed down through generations.
