Patuntung
Indonesia, which consists of tens of thousands of islands and hundreds of ethnic groups, is a country with the highest heterogeneity on earth, and it has a cultural diversity that reflects the extraordinary wealth of the nation. These beliefs can be in the form of beliefs in God Almighty, beliefs in Gods, spirits, ancestors, supernatural objects, magical powers, etc. In addition, until now they still maintain noble values and carry out the traditions inherited from their ancestors, one of which is a ritual related to their lives.
According to I Made Suarsana, belief is a system of human behavior to achieve a certain purpose by relying on the will and power of creatures such as spirits, Gods, etc. They believe that the universe is a place for good and evil spirits to live, which can influence human life. They believe their ancestors are still present in this world and can provide assistance and guidance in everyday life.
They believe that every event and activity must begin with prayer and asking for blessings from good spirits. In addition, they also hold various ceremonies and rituals that aim to maintain the balance between humans, nature, and spirits. This ceremony is carried out as a form of respect for ancestors & also as a form of gratitude for the various blessings given.

Abstract This article describes the original belief system of the Kajang indigenous community known as Patuntung which originates from ancestral beliefs characterized by animism & dynamism.
The Kajang tribe's belief system consists of animism & dynamism which originates from ancestors. The Kajang tribe's belief system includes animism & dynamism. Pasang ri Kajang is the ancestral teaching of the Kajang people.
According to their destiny, they do not deserve to live rich, because since their ancestors they have been destined/required to live simply. In everyday life, the Kajang indigenous people hold fast to Pasang ri Kajang which is the teaching of their ancestors. The implementation of rules/laws in the Kajang traditional community also still adheres to the legal principles inherited from their ancestors/predecessors.
That is why the treatment of their ancestors is carried out without taking into account the issue of profit and loss, but the most important thing for them is to maintain customs & culture in acting as a demand of the community, such as the implementation of ceremonies/rituals. Based on the mythology that has developed in the Kajang traditional community & other expressions, it states that the orders or mandates and prohibitions from Turie Arana will be conveyed to a human being who has special features & advantages. In addition to the naming of ammatoa & its status as a traditional leader, it is also known by another name, namely boheta which means our grandmother/ancestor.
This naming is by its status as a human ancestor, often also called the name mula tauwa which means the first human. The Kajang community is guided to always maintain itself so that it remains consistent in goodness during life using the appisona lifestyle so that later after death its spirit can be accepted by Turie Arana. On the other hand, people who do not live according to the teachings of their pasang roh will be rejected by Turie Arana & will receive a reward according to their nature in the world.
Patuntung teaches humans to get the source of truth from 3 main pillars, namely respecting Turie Arana, the land obtained from Turie Arana, & their ancestors. This message is the whole knowledge & experience about all aspects and twists related to life that are verbally ordered by their ancestors from generation to generation. This belief comes from the ancestors who are conveyed & taught through traditional elders.
The Kajang tribe's belief system is based on animism & dynamism, which teaches that all objects and living things in the universe have spirits that must be respected. In addition, the Kajang tribe also holds fast to the belief in the spirits of their ancestors. Therefore, ceremonies of respect & respect for ancestors are often carried out by the Kajang tribe.
Even though they have experienced many changes & modernizations, the Kajang tribe still holds fast to the belief system and spirituality that has been adhered to since the time of their ancestors. Initially, the Kajang people believed in animism, but in the 17th century, Islam entered and spread its influence there. Islam entered through a datuk from the Malay peninsula, who came to Pattiro on the south coast of Sulawesi Island.
In terms of belief, the Kajang community has a dualism of belief, namely Islam as a religion recognized by the state & the Patuntung belief as an ancestral teaching that must be carried out. Although most of them are Muslim, they still maintain ancestral traditions through ammatoa & traditional rituals. This is conditioned by government road infrastructure, which causes the direction of the house building to face the road, no longer facing west according to the beliefs of their ancestors.
The architectural form of the house building has imitated many of the Bugis & Makassar tribe building models who live in Bulukumba, who already use zinc roofs, the walls of the house can be painted, and ventilation made of glass.
