Dampelas' Animism


Meanwhile, the Dampelas tribe lives in the Donggala district. The Dampelas tribe belongs to the western Austronesian language group of the Tomini-Totoli language group. Most of the Dampelas tribe are Muslim but they also maintain animist beliefs.

The Sakai people are a group of people who are isolated and still live traditionally and nomadically in an area on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, precisely west of Bengkalis Regency & west of Siak Regency. Some experts think that the Sakai people are a mixture of Wedoid people and Minangkabau people who migrated around the 14th century. Other tribes from South Sumatra include all tribes from South Sumatra such as the Meranjat tribe. Based on sources obtained by the author from interviews with Pedamaran village officials.
