Borai's Animism

The tribe is the Borai. The Boria dance is a foreign dance that has become one of the modern dances for the people of Pinang Island. Apart from that, in Malaysia there are many types of dance in each region in West & East Malaysia.

The Shiites commemorate Hussein's death by holding a death event on the 10th of Muharram. This Boria dance is also associated with the dance of the Yazids from Persia to commemorate their victory in the war with Hussein. Therefore, its patterns & shapes are colored by various cultural elements such as animism, dynamism, Hinduism, Buddhism & Islam.
