Hatam's Animism


The Hatam tribe. Their villages are also located in the north and along the coast, with Tinam in the upper reaches of the Ransiki River to Sower in the south, and Urwam in the coastal area north of Oransbari. Furthermore, in their area, there is now a palm oil plantation, some of whose workers are transmigrants from Java.

The Hatam people still practice shifting cultivation, with a year-long rotation. However, before modernization and the establishment of rural areas in Papua, the Hatam people lived in small communities of 15-20 people from the same ancestors.

Melayu's Animism

Talang Mamak comes from the word talang, which means field & also mamak which means mother. In addition to Talang Mamak, this tribe has other names, such as the Anak Dalam & Langkah Lama tribes. Like the Sakai tribe, Talang Mamak is said to come from Pagaruyung who moved & lived in Indragiri. This is written in Old Malay, possibly the ancestor of the current Malay language & its variants. Animism believes every object has a soul that must be respected to not disturb humans. Animism is 1 belief that exists among people who still practice a simple life. Meranjat's Animism

Other tribes from South Sumatra include all tribes from South Sumatra such as the Meranjat tribe. Based on sources obtained by the author from interviews with Pedamaran village officials. Originally the place where they lived was called Talang Lindung Bunyian. At that time, the population concerned adhered to animist beliefs & some others were Buddhists.
