Wondama's Animism


The tribe is the Wondama. The Wamesa are one of the indigenous peoples of West Papua, primarily inhabiting the Bintuni district, Teluk Bintuni regency, West Papua province. The number of speakers of this language was estimated at 5,000 in 1993, according to the 18th edition of Ethnologue.

Their cosmological perspective places nature as part of a web of life involving humans, ancestors, and unseen forces.

Sakai's Animism

The Sakai people are a group of people who are isolated and still live traditionally and nomadically in an area on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, precisely west of Bengkalis Regency & west of Siak Regency. Some experts think that the Sakai people are a mixture of Wedoid people and Minangkabau people who migrated around the 14th century. Meranjat's Animism

Other tribes from South Sumatra include all tribes from South Sumatra such as the Meranjat tribe. Based on sources obtained by the author from interviews with Pedamaran village officials. Originally the place where they lived was called Talang Lindung Bunyian. At that time, the population concerned adhered to animist beliefs & some others were Buddhists.
